Going Freelance

Tomorrow is my first day working as a freelancer. After having worked for three different consulting firms over the last six years I thought it was time to try something new. As an independent I will also have more freedom to work on products, such as Truffler. In fact, my ambition is to divide my time between consulting and product development. I also plan to spend more time working as a trainer/course leader which is something that I enjoy but have always had trouble fitting into my schedule.

Truffler

I truly believe that we’re on our way, if we’re not there already, to creating the best search solution for EPiServer (and in the future other products) with Truffler. Having flexibility at both indexing and querying time coupled with a client API that empowers the developer not only to build standard search pages quickly but also to query for pages in powerful ways can solve so many problems, and in the end lead to better web sites as we’re able to spend more time on the end user experience.

For Truffler me working as an independent consultant is of course great news as I will spend even more time enhancing the product than I currently am. I will also have more flexibility and time to visit and talk to potential partners, so if you’re interested, send us an e-mail or give us a call and we’ll gladly come and give you an introduction.

Page Type Builder and other open source projects

For Page Type Builder and my other open source projects I can’t really foresee any major consequences of this change. The main reason for the rather slow development of projects such as PTB and EPiAbstractions lately has more to do with EPiServer adding some of the functionality natively and the fact that the current versions are stable and fairly close to feature complete than my work situation. I do have to get the 2.0 version of PTB released soon though. Man, do I regret going for a 2.0 release instead of doing incremental releases ;-)

New contact information

Working for my new employers Abrahamsson Software AB (trust me, that wasn’t my first naming alternative) and 200OK AB (the company behind Truffler) my principal e-mail addresses are mail@joelabrahamsson.com and joel@truffler.net respectively and I can be reached on telephone at +46 (0)736 44 88 88.

  1. @ErikEngstrand Ah, well, that could possibly cause data to be lost so PTB won't do that for you. You can do it manually or use migrations 1 days ago
  2. @ErikEngstrand Sounds odd. You sure it isn't set to disabled in web.config? 1 days ago
